Lima Lima Flight Team

2008ChicagoAirandWaterShow_limalima.jpgThe Lima Lima Flight Team is the only six aircraft civilian formation aerobatic flight team in the world! The civilian team flies the T-34 Mentor which was used by both the U.S. Navy and Air Force for primary training in the 1940's.

The aircraft are painted to look just like they did when used in the Navy for training with one exception. The Lima Lima aircraft have a black tail band with the team's trademark LL logo.

The team formed originally as a non-profit club based at Naperville's Naper Aero residential airpark. The name "Lima Lima" comes from the official FAA designator for that airport "LL10".

If you look closely at the Lima Lima T-34 Aircraft you will recognize that they are painted to look just like they did when used in the Navy for training with one exception. The Lima Lima aircraft have a black tail band with the team's trademark LL logo.

The team have been regular performers at the Chicago Air & Water Show. They also perform at airshows across the country, thrilling audiences with their precision performances.

I have enjoyed the opportunity of going for a few flights with the Lima Lima Flight Team. Each time they have given me a thrilling ride while allowing me to view their precision maneuvers from the best vantage point possible, the back seat of one of their T-34 Mentors. Check out my posts, photos and videos from these flight experiences.
